As a person with very bad (flat) feet who lives in New Balance athletic shoes (with orthotics) all the time, I needed a supportive dress shoe for my son's wedding. These shoes were very comfortable kept me pain-free all day. However, the rubber soles made it very difficult to dance, no sliding ability! My suggestion is to use the shoes for comfort, and kick them off when it's time to dance!
